Effluent Pond Algal Bloom – Due to a recent algal bloom in the effluent pond, the community may experience irrigation, and pond odor. We have scheduled an algaecide treatment for 9-11am tomorrow (8/28/26). Residents in the vicinity of the effluent pond may hear loud equipment in this timeframe. A preventative treatment plan will also be considered during the next District meeting. We’re working as quickly as possible to limit impact, and we appreciate the community’s patience regarding this matter.

Hays County Development District No. 1 (District) understands that there is concern regarding the herbicides used to treat the weeds on the trails in Caliterra. While the herbicides are EPA registered products, are typical for weed treatment, and were applied in accordance with all label requirements and industry standard practices, the District will review possible alternative methods and alternative products to control weeds on the trails.
